Vented cylinder replacement
A straightforward option for homes that retain a cold-water storage tank. We can replace an ageing copper cylinder, renew associated valves and controls, and correctly match the capacity and coil to the existing heating system.
Unvented cylinder installation
An unvented cylinder supplies hot water directly from the mains and can provide strong, balanced performance to several outlets. It must be correctly sized, installed and commissioned by an appropriately qualified engineer. Incoming mains flow, pressure, pipework and a compliant discharge route all need checked first.
High-recovery and future-ready upgrades
We can specify high-recovery, direct, indirect and twin-coil cylinders to suit the heat source. If you are preparing for a heat pump, the cylinder must have the correct capacity and coil performance; an ordinary boiler cylinder is not always suitable.
Important: an unvented cylinder does not create mains pressure
Performance is limited by the water supply entering the property. We test the available flow and pressure before recommending an unvented upgrade, so you receive realistic advice rather than a promise the existing mains cannot support.

Frequently asked questions
Will an unvented cylinder improve my shower pressure?
It can improve hot-water flow compared with a traditional gravity-fed cylinder, but only when the incoming mains supply and pipework are suitable. We test these before recommending the conversion.
What size hot water cylinder do I need?
Capacity depends on household size, bathing habits, outlet demand and how quickly the heat source can recover the stored water. We size the cylinder from the actual property and usage rather than relying on one generic rule.
Can you replace a leaking cylinder like for like?
Yes, where a like-for-like replacement remains the right solution. We also check whether changes to capacity, controls, insulation or system type would provide better long-term value.
Do you repair cylinders and immersion heaters?
Yes. Some problems are caused by an immersion heater, thermostat, motorised valve, expansion component or control rather than the cylinder itself. We diagnose the fault before recommending replacement.
Why is water dripping through the tundish or discharge pipe?
It can indicate that a safety valve has operated or that an expansion, pressure or temperature-control component needs attention. Never cap or block a discharge pipe. If water is actively discharging, avoid contact with hot water, switch off the heat source if it is safe to do so and arrange a qualified inspection.
Does an unvented cylinder need servicing?
Unvented cylinders should be checked and maintained in line with the manufacturer’s instructions. Regular maintenance checks the expansion and safety devices and may be a condition of the product warranty.
Can you install a heat-pump-compatible cylinder?
Yes, subject to system design. Heat pumps generally require a cylinder with suitable coil surface area, capacity and controls. We will assess the current system and future heat-source plan before specifying equipment.
How long does a cylinder replacement take?
The duration depends on whether it is a straightforward replacement, a relocation or a vented-to-unvented conversion involving new pipework, controls or a discharge route. We confirm the expected programme with the written quotation.
