Heat-pump planning and heating-system upgrades

Practical assessment and system improvements for homes considering or already using lower-temperature and renewable heating.

Heat-pump-ready heating upgrades

A heat pump works best as part of a correctly designed low-temperature system. We can assess and improve the plumbing and heating components around the heat source, including radiators, pipework, zoning, controls and hot-water storage.

  • Heating-system and emitter assessments
  • Radiator and pipework upgrades for lower flow temperatures
  • Heat-pump-compatible hot water cylinder upgrades
  • System cleaning, balancing and controls
  • Advice on hybrid and staged heating improvements
  • Coordination with an MCS-certified installer where grant eligibility requires it

Honest advice before changing heat source

We do not promise that every property is heat-pump ready. Heat loss, insulation, radiator output, electrical supply, external-unit location, noise limits and hot-water demand all matter. Any complete heat-pump installation, funding or MCS certification will be confirmed clearly in the written proposal; grant-funded work normally requires the appropriate MCS route.

Hot water and cylinder planning

Many heat-pump projects require a correctly sized high-recovery cylinder with a suitable coil. Our hot water cylinder service can assess storage, space, mains performance and future compatibility.

Frequently asked questions

Will my existing radiators work?

Sometimes, but output must be checked at the proposed lower flow temperature. Some rooms may need larger radiators or other emitters.

Can you guarantee a grant?

No. Eligibility and funding conditions change and depend on the applicant, property, installer and scheme. We will not build a quotation around unconfirmed funding.
